MySql Help!

Hey!

I am trying to connect to a external database (http://www.cheatsdatabase.com/) but I keep recieving the error:

Unable to connect to cheats database. Unable to connect to cheats database.
Unable to connect to cheats database.

So I think I can do something in the cpanel (mysql management thing) but I don't know what, maybe its the "Access Hosts" but I don't know what to write. Any help will be great

Have you entered your username and password into the file that they provided you with?

Yup, I have done all the username and password stuff. I think its something to do with wildcard thing (so my hosts says anyway)

in the address for your connection strip put 127.0.0.1 (or localhost)

it will try and connect to the mysql server on that server then,

what you can also do is put after where it connects put this

or die(mysql_error());

so it would like this

mysql_connect(dfaf,asfadsf,asdfdasf) or die(mysql_error());

then when it fails it will tell you what went wrong then remove the or die() afterwards.

You need to replace localhost with the ip address of your DB server. You also need to under the hosts table in mysql specify the user, ip they are coming from and what DB's they have access to if you wish for an external system to talk to your DB. Remeber to run the FLUSH command to load the grant tables.

Hey all, thanks for the help!

One thing though, this script am using of www.cheatsdatabase.com doesnt actualy provide any mysql information, am quite a php/mysql newb so i am not sure totaly, but i see no information like mysql database etc... all I have to enter is my site username and pass into the script in order for it work. :S
