If it's back in 1995, what domains would you register

Let's make some dreaming here.
Load your butt into Delorian and go back to 1995. Get out and start registering domains ;)
Let's assume that all LL.com and NN.coms are taken. What kind of domains will you jump on then?
Let your fantasy force be with you. :)

My first choice would've been -
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.com
..if was still available at the time!

Haha. Nice thread. :D

The assumption: that we are going back in time, and realizing the potential of domains for purposes of resale in the future.

So let's say that is the case...

I'd register short one word .coms, specifically the type with commercial value... e.g. product/service/business/finance/medical/travel/insurance related. Also first, last names, one word brandables, Leo.com, Network.com

LLL/NNN .coms- would also be on my list-but I'd register alimited amount compared to the above.

I would register the top 200 sales of all time to this point, just 200, so as to leave something for everybody else.

I'd have registered my first name, LLL.com, along with every other premium LLL.com, assuming I had the money or credit :) The non-premium LLL.com, I'd leave for the Chinese to register :)

You're generous enough to let Chinese register those at reg fee :P

No LLLs? No NNNs?
Mix meaningful LLL like TED/BUY/FIX/TIM with good numbers and you set for the future :)

I'm always late in registering or wining domains at auctions so I think I would have stuck to premium LLLLs :)

standard easy lead generators for me...

Insurance
Loan
Mortgage
Credit

etc...

So I could make substantial income from selling off the leads while waiting for the ultimate end user.

when a lot of people would be fighting for mortgage, insurance and other domain, I'll peacefully buy Google and facebook.com.

Then today, we'd probably have Geegle and Bookface.com

The answer to your question is so obvious... I assume that either this is a trick question, or you live in Oregon where you can now legally smoke weed without fear of repercussions. I mean, you can high out of your mind and really not have to worry about what you say online.

So let's say that it's the year 1995, and all the LLs are taken. Then obviously you start buying the LLLs. If all the NNs are taken then clearly you start buying the NNNs.

Fantasy Force? Like the imagination required to answer your question compares to that of what JRR Tolkien utilized to create the Lord of the Rings?

About as much "fantasy force" is required to answer your question as Plutonium is required to make Pizza, at Pizza hut.

Do you notice people glowing after they eat Pizza Hut's pizza. No? That's because they don't put plutonium into their pizza.

I'd register Google.com, Facebook.com, Twitter.com, Domaining.com, Sedo.com, all popular website's names, all generic one-words .com and.. NamePros.com.. :D

I beg to differ... I see that all the time...

To answer the question, I would spend every dime on a huge monster list of random 25 char+ alpha-numeric .coms that have no meaning or pattern. Yep, that's what I would do...

I would totally register the top 10 domains of today just to see what would happen. It blows my mind to think about what today's top Internet tech giants would be called and how they would be organized ... who would be the CEOs, who would steal whose patents or ideas, what would smartphones look like (Would they be called 'smartphones'?)

It would be that "Butterfly Effect", software and coding languages might be called something else ... and the funniest thing of all, the top 10 domains like Google and Yahoo I bought back in '95 would definitely not have the value they do today lol.

I would register all continent names, countries, most popular cities, first and last common names, all available short meaningful words, plus the catchiest 2 and the word phrases.

After doing all this, I would have my body cryogenically frozen in time for 20 years. I would then wake up, anxiously check my registrar's account, and then realize in horror that I forgot to check the auto-renew button....

---edit---

And just to blow people's minds, I would take my portable mp3 player with me and tell people that in the future, media comes in a liquid form and you just pour it into that tiny little hole...

Are you asking us because you actually plan to travel back in time in a Delorean? And follow-up question.. Is your name Marty McFly? ;)
