Hey,

I'm looking for some ideas on how to drive traffic towards my font site Cool Fonts.

So far I have:
-Posted my website in forums & put my website in my signatures
-Digged website
-Started linking with other sites (2 PR5 and 1 PR2, I don't submit to directories because I believe google doesn't care if you have links from sites like that. Google just likes quality links.)
-Promoted on Google Groups
-Had blog posts made about my site

I tend to steer clear of social bookmarking sites. The effort of getting people to add your site to their bookmarks isn't worth the very small reward. None of the traffic seems to be quality traffic either.

So I know the main thing is to focus on getting some good inbound links which will get some traffic and also help me get up the ranking in SEO. But I'm sure there are lot's of other things I don't know about.

+Reps for any advice given!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

submit to as many free and paid directories as possible. Launch CPC campaigns like G Adwords etc. Things depend upon you budget. You may hire a SEO expert.

I would also suggest you to get your site redesigned by a professional as it lacks eye catching looks. Good looks are very important to hold visitors.
Your site is not validating even though it has valid xhtml logo

Another option is to submit to as many freebie directories, freebie lists, freebie blogs etc.

Your existing layout is too dark for my taste, try to brighten it up a bit. It doesn't have to look all that stylish. Look at www.dafont.com for example.

I'd agree that the site is a bit dark, overall. Considering that you're dealing with typography, I think you should lighten the design a bit. On the other hand, having the ability to preview on-screen is a real plus. One thing that really confused me, though, was seeing a Google ad right in the middle of the categories. Why not put one ad at the top of the categories and another at the bottom, and keep all of the categories together? Hope this helps.

I also think that you should put more color into your website or brighten it up because the first impression always count.

Your on the right track already Swefx. But leaving out social bookmarking sites is something that could have improve your sites visibility and exposure. Does not really matter if they bookmark you or not. The thing is you get the much needed exposure in every possible way. Anyways that is just my thought on it. Goodluck though ;)

have a section on the site - for free graphics - words in various fonts...
possibly script driven... the myspace group love WORD graphics...

Good Luck with your Projects...
