Wtf is up with folks wasting millions of gallons of clean water for ALS?

Just donate your money quietly and move on. Most here donate quietly to registrars and move on, so it's business as usual, but for a great cause!

You guys seem to have totally need the concept of the disease, the challenge and the whole idea behind it. Read a little bit more before you take this completely offtopic. Waste of water is an absolutely nonsensical observation...

Really ? Tell me how my people die from that particular ( amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) ? & then when you are up with the stats , compare it with people & children who die from dirty water disease or lack of water .

Then my friend you will know what should be your priority .

That is exactly what you're missing here. Its not a competition of which disease is more important its all about popularizing a cause that many people might not be so familiar about. Why doesn't world hunger, heart disease, AIDS don't do such awareness campaigns? Because those are things that one should already be aware of. If you are so up with the stats and concerned about the lack of water in certain parts of the world do you donate anything to that cause? Have you got your friends interested in donating too? Do you think about that when you take a long shower or water your garden? This is an AWARENESS campaign and it did exactly what it had to - brought awareness. Its not a race of which disease is the worst.

P.S. Declaring something unimportant based on the death cases it caused is something I would not brag around in public, you would just sound insensitive.

P.P.S. I won't even start with how irrelevant the "waste of water" argument is...

So let me get this straight its okay to waste water just to create awareness ?

You obviously don't like understanding any viewpoint different than yours, do you?

If I dump a bucket of water over my head, while in my garden how is that different from watering it? Doesn't it still go into the soil and help the miracle of life for my vegetables? Define WASTED water and then I can give you a few examples of how you definitely waste water in your everyday life.

Then check back my previous reply again and stop taking this as a competition. You can also answer the questions there I am very much interested to see your responses.

P.S. Also you can read a little WHY the campaign used a bucket of water instead of planting a tree like one suggested. Haters gonna hate, ain'ters gonna ain't ;)

My point exactly. One can spend a whole day in the pool and no one bats an eye, but God forbid he/she decides to pour a bucket of water over their head and immediately all those poor children in Africa become the main topic of discussion.

Don't even know why this topic was revived months after the campaign. It was already a huge success and did its purpose.

Missing the point.

We don't need to waste precious resources in order to make donations. Just donate quietly and move on. Instead of pissing clean water for amusement, because that's really what this was all about, bottle the water and ship it to someone who needs it.

Lol lets see I 'bottle' the water that's a plastic bottle I ship it to Africa that's like 40 bucks let's see the trucking line burns gas to ship it to a port and then a freighter uses up natural resources to transports it across the ocean then someone on the other side uses their time to offload the cup of water during which time they will probably have to take a break and drink some water then at customs an agent will probably say hey what's this 'water' doing here addressed to thirsty people of Africa and he throws it out. Lol seriously get a life.

Raising awareness Keith, this is the point. Sure I can donate quietly. That's what people were doing before that. After the Ice Bucket Challenge people were doing it that way too. Now after the challenge, especially after so many famous people got involved, the donations for a single month were 10 times higher than the total donations of the whole year before that. This is what awareness does. Me and you might know what ALS is but there are thousands and millions people out there who didn't. Now they do. So its a job well done. And no, I don't think the buckets wasted any more water than what we waste on a daily basis.

How do you think people in many parts of the world get food and water? It gets shipped, along with clothing and other basic necessities. Problem is that we're so spoiled it's a joke to be wasteful.

Raising awareness for causes is a great thing but we need to really analyze the methods being used.

Okay, lets analyze the method used. For a -truly- insignificant amount of water that would not have ever been shipped to Africa anyway and would have been used in the home then refiltrated back into our eco system, we increased the awareness of the disease fifty fold. You base your conclusions on assumptions that are not valid. Which you will continue to do, because you are vested in being right. -shrugs-

Eh, I got domains to sell and stuff to do, not coming back to this thread, feel free to draw the wrong conclusions as long as it makes you feel good.

Says the guy that couldn't possibly be wrong...

Why would a bucket of water dumped on the ground be used in the home? That's a ridiculous statement since water in the home will be used regardless of this challenge. Tell a guy that doesn't have a drink that's it's ok to pour water on the ground because hay, it'll go back into the ecosystem. Just stick out your tongue the next time it rains! Wtf...

And why is it far fetched to ship water to Africa? Shit ships from eBay to and from every part of the globe. In reality, and because we're lazy, it's easier to dump water out than it is to ship it so we dump away.

Thoughtless people acting dumb!
