Ice Storm Brrrr!

We'd been having an ice storm here the last few days.. I hear some 14,000 people locally lost their power and it's not expected back on for a few days. I lost my cable/internet overnight tho it's working now. Electric went out for a second a few times but went back on immediately.

Work was closed last night but I called and they'll be open tonight (figures.. I have to work!)

I was in an ice storm in upstate NY some years ago much worse than this one.. we lost a tree in our yard and I thought that was the extent of the damage but turned out hundreds of trees were downed by the ice overnight. Thousands lost their power and such (we didn't). Driving around the city after was like the aftermath of a bomb so many tree were down.. really affected the landscape for years after.

We just got out of the season's first snowfall/freezing rain mix on Monday here in SW Ontario.

It was good for a change, but they said "10-20 centimetres of snow" but instead we got ~8 cm of snow and a some mm of ice. Made driving pretty bad :o !

It's still warm up here in the NE like the others have said. I wish we would get some snow, I feel like I'm in Florida or Texas! Right now it's so foggy you can't even see outside.

Yeah, you would think Texas was warm at this point in time, but you're wrong. :hehe: The last 4 days or so, the high has been 30 degrees F, with windchills around 20 degrees. it's been sleeting horrible, everything is iced over. Two days of school have been canceled at A&M and Blinn(the college I go to). My truck had a 1/4 inch of ice all over it, so I was unable to drive anywhere.
