Ice Storm Brrrr!

We'd been having an ice storm here the last few days.. I hear some 14,000 people locally lost their power and it's not expected back on for a few days. I lost my cable/internet overnight tho it's working now. Electric went out for a second a few times but went back on immediately.

Work was closed last night but I called and they'll be open tonight (figures.. I have to work!)

I was in an ice storm in upstate NY some years ago much worse than this one.. we lost a tree in our yard and I thought that was the extent of the damage but turned out hundreds of trees were downed by the ice overnight. Thousands lost their power and such (we didn't). Driving around the city after was like the aftermath of a bomb so many tree were down.. really affected the landscape for years after.

When i first read the title i was expecting ice cream strom :D....wow must be real cold out there! i live in the desert :D..though i was in ny a few weeks back and i must say i hate cold!

It's about 3 degrees Celsius here today (25 degrees F)..

I'm used to the colder weather, having lived in NY 30+ years.. the humidity here in the summer kills me!

Where do you live? I heard about bad ones in Oklahoma and Missouri. I was hoping the same would hit us here in Iowa to be honest.

All we got was a few inches of snow. Remembering that I like snow so this is a bad thing. I wanted at least a foot of snow.

Well, there's some snow, but it's mainly crust from rainy sleet.. it's all ice really.

I'll bet it does! We never get cold/snowy winters here
in the Valley (okanagan) BC. It's always mild - brush the
snow with a broom type weather...IT"S -10 for a week
now we have been minus temperatures WTF is going on...
oh and the best part....the sun is shining grrrrrrr
...BUT COLD...BRRRRR

It's still warm up here in the NE like the others have said. I wish we would get some snow, I feel like I'm in Florida or Texas! Right now it's so foggy you can't even see outside.

Last night or 2 nights ago it was as cold in North Carolina as it was in Florida. I was snow skiing in just a long sleeve shirt during the day. Even at night on top of the black diamond slope it wasn't very cold!

24 degrees here.. at least the freezing rain stopped! Maybe I'll post a few pics later. There were some tree down locally. Springfield got hit pretty bad too.

Indeed, I woke up today and looked out the window to see everything covered in a white blanket. I thought I was dreaming. We don't see that often around here. And unfortunately, even when we do it's usually not the good soft stuff, it's the sleet/snow/ice messy stuff.

I had to go out to the bank and store.. and forgot to bring the camera!! Hadn't really had a chance to see much since the ice storm hit but there are loads of broken tree limbs and wires down and such.. alot of beautiful ice sculptures too. One whole field that was normally full of tall crass was iced over.. looked awesome!

Unfortunately, I did manage to slip and fall several times on the ice.. not badly but it was pretty treacherous!

It's been around 18 degrees Fahrenheit at night and 27 in the day. We have snow & ice on the ground, many stores have been closed all week.
