ICANN Leader Says Multi-Stakeholder Model of Internet Governance Under Threat

The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) says all Internet stakeholders need to strive to keep Internet governance out of the hands of intergovernmental organizations. And if they fail, he warns, there could be unfortunate consequences.

So...when are they going to suggest something we don't already know?

It is all very well having them tell us that the way to keep the internet free is to keep governments from controlling it but they are the ones with the power to do that, not us.

That page of legalese that is linked to means nothing to the average person, so when are they going to make a transaltion for the normal person on the street?

When ICANN implement long term price caps that keep registries from grossly inflating renewal prices on existing tld's, then stakeholders will believe in the sincerity of the organization.

Until that obviously necessary and ethically correct policy is adopted (it's long overdue), ICANN can never be considered a partner of the domain name community. Still waiting on them to do the right thing on this topic. Let's see them rally around that. Then, we can consider what they have to say on other important matters.

Hogwash what about the vegetarians who eat no steaks?
That means they have no steaks to hold.
There is absolutely no Internet governance and the concern is that the Communications Act of 1934 will finaly be ordered enforced.
