I need help.

I want to create a search engine. It is a simple engine in premise.

Lets say I want to sell books. I add all of the images for the books into this database and tag the crap out of each image. I also put a link to each books page.

When someone searches based off of what I tagged the books it shows a row of images. If you click on an image it takes you to the page I assigned.

Does anyone know a way to make this, somewhat simple, search engine? Thanks.

Have you looked into using mySQL? I might suggest using that as your database,
and then using either PHP or Perl or ASP or another programming language to
query your search terms against the database.

Most web engines would use an approach like this, check out Sake Bottles
as an example - it seems to do something similar to what you describe,
only for sake bottles instead of books?

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't already a free script around that could do this using PHP & MySQL - have you already looked to see if there's something that will do the job - I don't believe in re-inventing the wheel.

The Gigablast web site search is a free service that allows visitors to search web pages from your web site or from any other sites that you select. You can get results in XML format which you can then place in any design template.
