Create a search engine ... How does it work ?

Hi everyone,

I plan to create a new kind of website including a "search engine" ... Not as sophisticated as Google of course ... But I want my users to make sure they find the perfect match.

One side, I will have Orgnizations/ONG asking for something and on the other side, companies offering something...

How complicate is it to develop such a website ...

SE are essentially queries from composite databases. Not difficult for a database expert, but there are many problems associated such as generating and handling large quantities of data.

Today, many SE (including G) have simple to use APIs and many websites simply incorporate them on their site. That looks llike a better solution rather than creating your own set of databases.

Few questions ...

- who are your users ? (two types of users maybe?)
- do you expect hundreds, thousands or millions of users ?
- what are they searching for ?
- whatever they are searching , exists in your database ?
- who creates your database (users, paid staff, crawling from the web)
