Hi everyone,

I sent emails to some potential buyres of my domain, and I just got this answer:

"I am interested. What company are you with?"

I do not understand what the customer is asking me exactly, please tell me what to answer. Thanks in advance :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

The Company of Wolves.

Just kidding, just tell them you're "an independent".

They are trying to figure out if you work for some company in a similar business as themselves.

Just say you are a web developer or something to that effect.

In your response also include the details of which company the domain is registered with. just cover all the angles to prevent further questions in a simple format

Are you using a full signature with contact details when sending out emails? Also, having a portfolio page that houses all your domains with site like Efty will bring some validity to your emails. You could then have the website for your portfolio as part of your signature line and give yourself a title "VP of Domain Sales". This would help avoid the probing questions from buyers just trying to figure out if they're being scammed or not. It may also improve your response rates.

In the signature i write my name, email and phone number. I dont have a portfolio page but I plan to do them and website page.

Thanks for your advice :)

Thank you very much for all the advices, I sent this message to the buyer but I have not got an answer yet:

I am a web developer. My domain is registered on namesilo. I'll transfer it to your account, and after you receive the domain you will make a payment via PayPal or some escrow service.

Best regards,

IMO it is best to keep portfolio private if they didn't find you that way. If you own similar names it should only be one name they like. Only start to switch if souring. Close the deal on the table. Portfolio can be introduced as a way of making contact later or to sweeten a deal. If have a bite keep it aside for more ammo or you will just devalue bundling names.

It's best to avoid risking sending away your domain prior to receipt of the payment by wrapping the deal solely in-house, via a namesilo's marketplace. Once you agreed on a price, BIN it for instant sale-purchase transaction. If the domain is above 60 days old, the buyer might be eligible to transfer it out to a registrar of their choice anyway.

Negative.

Get payment first, otherwise they won't take you seriously.

I wouldn't mention PayPal - it's a red light to some people who see it as the scammer's friend.

I'm another one who won't transfer a name until I receive cleared funds. The only exception is the Name Silo market place, and that is my preferred option.
