So we are putting chatrooms on our GEO and Vertical TV sites in addition to Local Experts.com. I was considering structuring the chat rooms like this:

NATIONAL CHAT
1) Bride Chat
2) Homeowner/Resident Chat
3) Tourist Chat

CITY CHAT
1) Bride Chat
2) Homeowner/Resident Chat
3) Tourist Chat

So each city would have three chat rooms, one for brides (because they just want to talk about weddings), one for homeowners (who want to talk about everything from real estate to pest control to taxes, and then one for residents.

So people come and they self-classify themselves and go to the right room.

Does this make sense. Is it too much. Interested in your thoughts

Do you have an example we could see?

My first thought is that it is both too much and too little. If you are going to have brides, why not pregnancy chat? When my wife has been pregnant, there is a HUGE market of sites for pregnant women. What about men? Do you have support group channel for men GETTING married to women who are talking all the time about their wedding?

Why not race cars?
Boating?
Bars?
Cameras?

It could both be useful, and too much at the same time.

Useful, but our traffic footprint is brides, homeowners, or tourists. That is the one common element with everyone who comes to our site.

The others are niche sites that only serve a small segment of our population.

Makes sense to me, If that is your target audience than chat that caters for them is ideal imo.
