I need .com domain - Backorder info

Hi all,

I would like to ask if anyone knows how the backorder system works on who.is.

I have a domain.co.za but would like domain.com but see it registered by someone else.

Is doing a backorder the best approach and if I place a backorder and domain becomes available and I pay for it will it become mine thereafter if this current owner forgets to make payment?

names for several years now. The domain name
you are after -domain.com- will not be 'forgotten'
for renewal. The domain is too valuable to let it
fall in redemtion/deletion period.

When you want other domain names which are
more likely not to be renewed you can backorder
domain names at the big backorder companies.
When the domain drops you may be lucky to get
it.

Does the domain you want have a website or is it just parked with a parking page? If the former, use the contact form on the website to contact them and express your interest in buying the domain. If it's a parked page, then most parked paged have an "inquire about domain" link, and use that. If there is no link on the page, then look up their whois record and contact them there. If it's has privacy, then more than likely they are not interested to sell. But you could try sending an email to the privacy address, because some privacy forward the emails to the owner of the domain. You could also try contacting the Registrar and ask them to forward on your email to the owner (about 5% chance of success). Lastly you could check the domain history at DomainTools to see if there was ever a time before the privacy was invoked where their contact was showing. Lastly you could google the domain name to see what shows up. After that give up.

I do not believe this person was actually talking about the domain "domain.com". The person just used that as an example domain to avoid revealing the real name.
