...and I just got one thing to say...if everyone stopped buying that cheap made in China crap from walmart not knowing you are actually doing yourself, your neighbour and your country the biggest disservice in the world. More so, you are supporting the world greediest company (walmart) and country (China) which provides no human rights, labour laws or rights, product and safety laws - for its own people or any respect for other countries as they are the worlds single biggest polluter, and user of coal - and they dont abide by any intellectual rights laws - that is what makes the US the greatest - AMericans aren't just innovators like Japan (though they are much better than china) americans are responsible for the greatest inventions of the past 200 years, such steam engine, gas engine, transistor and every technology based on those...

We make brands, we spend millions to market and perfect our products, even more in development and focus groups - and employ millions and generate billions for the economy - only so Chinese manufaturers can knock off our products without any of the costs associated, hard work to build the brand and use our brand names on their packaging containing inferior product and flood the market with it - was everyone sleeping the past 15 years or just so amazed with the crap that is at "everday low prices at walmart" which has corporate policy not to buy Made in North America and Only made in china - where the chinese are being used as damn near slave labour - we have turned farming communities to "last stops" for computer motherboards and parts - where these parts are shipped to from all over the world, then burned in massive bon fires polluting the air, making the peope sick and making the land unable to sustain vegitation for millions of years.

Sorry but we only have ourselves to blame for this recession - we choose greed over quality and you get what you pay for...

BTW when you and your community shop at walmart long enough, thinking you are saving a little money - very soon your entire community will be living the walmart lifestyle, even if you were a well to do community before - then you may wonder why the bank is forclosing on your home and you are in a trailer park dealership looking at a new "home" - we deserve better, china deserves better, the world deserves better!

Also - when you shop at Walmart, Chinese businesses or buy made in China products - your money will never return to the general economy - it will be funnelled to the chinese economy - even going to a chinese restaurant im sad to say, every dollar will go back to china...or spent at other chinese businesses - this is what drains the general economy which we are all part of

I completely agree.
But what does this have to do with domains?
Because a thread was titled recession sale?
I don't see the relevance...but agree, nonetheless.

the relevance is people are selling domains low to cover other cost - something they would not do under normal circumstance - economy is very relevant to domain market...

You're talking about protectionism.

When the USA takes that turn I'm afraid it will end up in some very nasty place. Cheap made goods from China is the only thing which makes living a bit more comfortable in these inflationary times. Protectionism always fails in the end and is a good source for extreme-right thoughts.

I am sure that is how Walmart wants you to see it...

Makes sense.
So if we didn't stretch ourselves so thin,
as a country...we wouldn't have to compromise our values.
And whore out ourselves...housing, domains, etc.
Yeah, times kinda suck, and greed does take a back seat to nothing sacred.
We need a huge change.
I hope that with this election, we prosper,
no matter who gets elected!

The average American is up to his nose in debt. When his new TV or MP3 player will cost 3-4times what it costs now, you make the math. Add the current rising food prices and you won't get a recession but a depression.

again I understand - sometime when looking for a certain product i realize that walmart is the only place left that sells it as "niche" shops have been wiped out - so I must buy a lower quality version or buy online at a premium -

but it is this sort of social attitude that walmart has tricked us into that has led us all to this place...

Plus now they aren't just in the big cities,
they have started surrounded outlying rural areas.
People who used to travel 30 minutes to shop at the trendy strip,
now travel to some closer Wal-Mart Outlot,
and they control who buys on that Outlot, too.
I hear they are going to start selling cars,
and they are starting walk-in-clinics.
I dont think we'll ever get away from their stranglehold on us!

You have to give some of the blame to the corporations. There the ones who is giving the permission to build their products in China.

yes those stupid corporations also sold us out - example is Calloway Golf Equipment - they were the top of the line for golf equip - yet decided to source out their made in us operations to china - where the manufacturer made ther products using cheaper materials, unsmooth edges; delivered the companys contract amount, then created another 10 million units under the Calloway brand which the sold themselves, and another 50 million units under No Name brands - flooded the market and Calloway filed for bankruptcy...

but we lost sight that made in USA or Made in Canada - means quality and standards being met - look what happened with childs toys and pet food - they dont care what they made it from long as they can make more money making it cheaper...they dont care about their own people in China let alone us here...

Blue collar America has been hurt big time.
We have to establish a new Blue Collar America.
Overseas import/export fees need to be stricter.
Immigrant labor needs to be stricter.
Union negotiated labor contracts need to be at 100%,
not just 50% of the labor force.
We need to Buy American as much as possible.
Mom and Pop stores can't compete.
No easy solution!
Times were so much better before Bush...

Great, an economy where American's do unskilled jobs like making cheap t-shirts and toothpicks for a living, how dare that kind of industry go to countries where wages are low? Raise that wall of tariffs and government oversight as Red Rock suggests!

What mainstream means is that there is something seriously wrong or different with America right now and it is getting worse and worse. Americans on the whole are in what 9 trillion dollars of debt. 3 million jobs have left America in the past 8 years. Some Americans are actually getting thrown out of there houses. Oil prices are at $110.

What some people fail to understand is the all this new tech stuff we are addicted too costs when manufactured in the US or EU. Multiply it by 3-4 at least.
Hey don't blame China or India if they want a piece of the cake. There is a world outside the US, in fact 95% of the world doesn't live in the US.
