I still can't believe this. I hope they are not going to cancel it. But at this moment I'm the proud owner of "meet.nu" and it was just sitting there waiting for me to pick it.
I was bored tonight and I was thinking about common names on the internet. Then I started to write them down: 'call', 'date', 'girls', 'meet', 'escort' etc. Then I was just playing around and I was thinking how bad it is that all the extensions of these names are taken. I opened namecheap.com and starting checking them and I was murmuring, "very bad yeah all gone". I wasn't actually checking them seriously. Just fooling around. Then when I came to "meet" I suddenly saw all extensions were gone but meet.nu was available. The same second I added it in my basked and went to checkout. It was expensive.
I thought, "OK, lets check the price at moniker". I did and to my surprise it showed available at moniker as well and the reg fee was much cheaper. So I went on to reg it at moniker. Completed checkout then got a failure notice. Money was returned to my balance and reg failed.
I think this was because I added the name in my basked at namecheap. I have read somewhere that they reserve the name for an hour if you add it to your basked. So I went to namecheap and registered without a problem. During all this time I was getting nervous because messing up the registration.
Now the name shows among my domains in namecheap. This is a good name isn't it?
