In case you missed the specials, homeland security demonstrated online how they could burn up powerstations and that there is a possibility that the whole grid might be brought down and take possibly months to bring back up, and this can be done from iran or anywhere else that has internet access. also dont forget natural disasters. My suggestion is the same as 2 years ago. This time i got in arguments with the secretaries of the offices to ensure key people got the message, fed homeland security, fed fema office, nys homeland security and state fema, senator schumer, senator larkin and oc county disaster prepardness. My suggestion is common sense but still ignored, thats that every gas station be required to have an emergency generator to be able to pump gas in the vent of a power failure. to date whole regions havent been effected but if it ever happens in conjuction with a natural disaster or terrorist act then must suburbs of the cities and major arteries will turn into one big parking lot. forget any plans we have made if traffic backs up to a standstiil. if stations are able to stay open and traffic moving necessary supplies along with tanker trucks can move in effected areas. if not forget any plans for fire, police and all those warehousses of emergency supplies will just sit in the warehouse. as a side note how many people have a kit made up of water, food and the essentials like toilet paper, you may laugh but when you run out of TP what will you do.
