I seem to be having problems accessing my site www.TLDN.com

I have contacted both my Host and ISP yet still nothin... this is starting to drive me crazy.

My ISP says its something to do with my settings but I've tried many things yet still can't access my sites on this particular server. It seems that other visitors can but not I.

If I visit www.MegaProxy.com and enter my url in the box I am able to view my site, great, but does anyone know how I can fix this and not have to go via MP to see it. I can't update or connect via ftp, I guess it has something " Proxy " related? :(

Thanks for the help,

Mike

What browser are are you using and can you access the server your site(s) are located on via FTP?

Mike - use something like FreeIPTrace to trace the route to your site. It may well be that there is a backbone down somewhere in the internet and that just happens to be the way that your ISP is connecting to the net. Doing a traceroute on it will show you where the problem is and then you can check the whois of the slow IPand you will normally find that it is a big network company

This happens every now and again - I have had experience of it when trying to access sites hosted in the states when the main UK backbone was down. When you are able to view it via a proxy, this normally indicates this type of problem as the proxy will have its own route on to the net.

Its not fun and lends itself to panic but normally they get it back up pretty quickly. The last time I remember was when a trawler severed a main line in the Atlantic - that was not fun for about 3 or 4 days.

I can access your site from the UK.

Get an ftp client. FTP Commander is free, but I can't remember their site... just do a google search on "ftp commander"

Hey,

Same problem I had a while back. Infact several times this happened to me. People on my local ISP cable service couldnt access my site, or in fact several others. It was very frustrating considering I had to administer a very large forum.

My ISP denied all responsibility, as did my webhost. As the sites that we couldnt view were based all over the world, it was nothing to do with the host. It WAS the ISP.

This problem eventually killed my forum, as it was based on the local community, but everybody on the local ISP couldnt view it!

There was nothing anybody could (or would) do, and the problem sorted itself out after a while, sometimes days, sometimes weeks.

I still have no idea why it happened, but all I know is my old forum with 400 members has been reduced to nothing because of the problem.

I hope it sorts itself out sooner rather than later, for you. :)

Thanks :)

I have started to move some of my sites to another Host of mine, I just can't wait any longer for this issue to be resolved, pain in the butt it is but oh well at least I will be able to access my sites once again :)

This has happened to me a few times, usually you will be able to see the site in a few hours. I think its just a isp issue because for a few hours i cant access certain sites, while other people can. Like I said it usually only lasts a few hours.

One thing you can try although I don't know if it will help is to edit the hosts file on your computer incase there's some dns problems. If you search for a file named "hosts" on your computer and then open it with a text editor you'll see a line in it similar to:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Beneath it add:

YourServersIp YourDomain.Com

And then save it and see if your site(s) are accessible after that. It may not help, but is probably at least worth a try.
