In less than a month, I am moving out of my house and into an apartment with my friend. (All of this because of car insurance, heh.)

I'm wondering if you guys have any advice for me living alone. I'm anxious, but I'm also a bit scared.

how did this happen because of car insurance? I've been reading your car insurance thread, though I dont' see any correlation

Advice for the first time living on your own huh ?

:| - You still have to continue eating "Green" things to stay healthy ....... But leaving left over pizza in the fridge for 3 weeks until it's "Green" on the top doesn't count :guilty:

Some things I learned from living in a dorm room by myself for 6 weeks over the summer:

Eat well
KEEP REGULAR SLEEPING HOURS (I can't stress this enough)
Drink water
Try and stay neat

Long story... Only those who read my "Penalties for violating labor laws" thread would know how it got to this.

I mention water because it's easy to get dehydrated or to only drink soda.

If you don't have enough money for car insurance, I don't know how you'll afford car insurance and somewhere to live.

With one job alone I can afford car insurance or a place to stay by myself. With my roommate I'll have more than enough. The only issue with the car insurance was that I didn't have enough to pay 3 months in advance, though I did make enough monthly. That's why I got a second job to be able to pay 3 months in advance. I now make enough to pay 3 months in advance, but this is where it gets ugly as I'm working way more than I should be being only high school student and my dad comes along with his "threats" that he's been giving me since elementary school about "packing my bags." Of course by now I know he doesn't mean it and that if I actually attempted to move out he wouldn't let me, but I'm going to do it anyways since he's one of the main people in my life to stress saying what you mean and not just talking to be talking. My parents plan on going away for vacation and I plan on moving out just before they get back so ya.

Let me get this straight: You're in High School, you work two jobs, and you plan on moving out? I didn't read your other threads but why do you need all the money?

I needed it for car insurance so I could drive back and forth from school. My insurance would cost me 5k - 6k a year as my parents wouldn't put me on theirs (if they did it would cost me around 4 thousand dollars less a year), Now I need it to move out.

Is it mandatory to have car insurance in New York (like in Massachusetts)?

Yes, you MUST have at least liability.
