Hello all!

I am new at this domain investing, and want to sell some of my domain names:

www.MiddleEastInvesting.com

www.LatestFunds.com

Im not sure where or how to sell these..... should i use SEDO.com, or Namepros.com ... or TDNAM.com???... what is the best place to sell domains? What is the best auction? Should I sell them via auction??

What about http://www.afternic.com/?

Thanks!!!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

If you want to sell them fast, you will get a lower price, on forums like Namepros. If you are prepared to wait it out, then Sedo/Afternic/TDNAM and others should be considered.

NamePros, other domain name forums. As stub mentioned, waiting it out could bring higher potential profits.

I am in no rush at all to sell -- i rather wait it out I could wait even over a year

Out of Sedo, TDnam, and Aferinc --- what is the best?

Also -- are those the top 3 sites to sell??

Thanks!!!

I wouldn't really say any of them are all that great. Sedo has blessed me with many a $60 offer (lowest offer possible) and TDnam has a large amount of bargain hunters (some good buyers too though). I don't know what it is about Afternic, but I just don't like them. Regardless of which route/s you choose, it is a waiting game and patience is certainly how you win at this game.

You just registered both of these on Oct 11, 2007. Forget about trying to sell them anytime soon. Maybe someone on NamePros will pick them up for a few bucks. Pretty much all the good names have been registered long, long ago. If you start acquiring good names, then you should list them for sale at as many places as possible (definitely both Afternic and Fabulous distribution networks).

Too many people think they can just register names at reg-fee and then sell them for big bucks right away. Don't forget to add long periods of waiting time in that equation. You have to wait for a long time for a name that looks worthless now to appear worth something. You could just buy a really good (and old) name from someone else for less than you can sell it to another party for. You might get lucky and pick up a $500 name which you can later sell for $1,500. It will be hard to pick up a name for $10 and sell it for $200 anytime soon.

No matter what the price of wheat is going for, chaff is still chaff.

Not meant to discourage you, but rather to prevent you from wasting money regging available names.

Agree.

Forget about auction. Park them, see if they get type in traffic then you'll have some stats to show potential buyers.

List them for sale as mentioned above and wait or develop.

And when I mentioned "long periods of waiting time" I don't mean "wait even over a year" but rather wait 10 years.

At the same time, it is possible to turn some names around. Just last year, I had a few hand registrations go for $500+. The buyers contacted me in those deals.

It's possible, but unlikely to sell right after registration as Bill said.

Best of luck

The thing is... and be honest.... www.MiddleEastInvesting.com how the heck did no one think of that? 3 keywords: Middle East Investing... someday the Middle East will be the #1 place to invest -- they have the oil, etc. etc. ---

LatestFunds.com isnt really all that great.... but Middle East Investing will come up to #1 on a google search if i optimize the SEO right because the keywords are incredible

What do you guys think???

Thanks!

They say that 98% of day traders in the stock market fail. I have been doing it for 3 years now and make my entire income from that. I look at domain names as the same. I dont buy a stock and wait for it to double in price. I buy a stock, wait for it to rise a couple cents, while everybody else is waiting for a dollar or 2 dollars, and I sell it at that. Many traders will buy 3 or 4 stocks and "diversify"....ive purchased $20,000 worth of 1 stock day after day and sell it each day just to make 200 or 300 dollars that day. May sound stupid but its worked for me and I can relax after I sell it each day and not worry about the stocks crashing or this or that happening. I think there are different ways of doing things. Most of my names, I regged with the expectations of selling each for $14-30 dollars each and most of them can easily fetch that on ebay. If you are looking to hold on to it, do that, but you can easily sell those 2 names for double what you paid. I wouldnt say that you wasted your money. Im just vocal about this because I asked for an "appraisal" on here and someone basically said I wasted my money..but majority of those names they pointed out are selling on ebay for triple what I paid for them. If I regged 360 names and I can make $5 profit on each one in 1 month....thats $1500.....Whats the chances of buying one name for what I paid for all of those and turning it over for $1500. Im sure it happens, but Im just saying, theres different ways of doing things. This guy was a regular..who "appraised" my names on here and he didnt search for my terms in google or didnt have any knowledge about them because he said they didnt make sense.

You should expose yourself in as many different market places as possible. Having said that, I've sold domains on all three, but you will get best prices on Sedo and Afternic. They are the top 2. Afternic has $20/year subscription, but well worth it. And as Bill said; it's not a 1 year wait and it will sell. It's an indefinite period of time, including more time than you are prepared to wait and renew, and/or subscribe to Afternic/TDNAM.

Good luck with your endevours. What are your price expectations?

You could develop them

If you're looking at sitting on them for a long time you could develop them. Even a blog about middle east investing would help.

You could still list them for sale on Sedo even if you are developing them as sites.

True, but if the name is not parked at SEDO then the sales commission is a minimum of $50. If it is parked there the commission is 10% of the sales price, without the minimum.

Very true. Patience is a must in domaining. My personal experience: I get offers after 1-2 years of registration. If you want to sell fast try the forums but be aware that the name should be decent, and resellers will pay less than an end user.
Or reach out to the end users, don't wait for them to come and find your names.

Strong point, Kate. Patience works well for just about everything, especially domaining.
