.mobi Hyphenated Mobis?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Hi,
i regged a few hyphenated mobis quite early on as thought such great keywords & the non-hyphenated were either reserved, took or highly desirable in com , even hyphenated.
What do you think?

Travel-Agents.mobi
Estate-Agents.mobi
Sierra-Leone.mobi
United-Kingdom.mobi
few more

Thought perfect for maybe directory listings, partic. the top two. They are UK terms more i believe
Also who else has bagged some/
cheers
Arnie

I'm worried about additional keys required to type mixed character names in .mobi. That also goes for mixed character domains. My phone requires a few additional clicks to change from number to character to symbol modes. Thus, I've haven't been registering any multiple-modal .mobis. It'll be interesting to see how it these go.

I think developed keyword targeted hyphenated urls may have legs as mobile search expands. I have reged some to lock in search terms I want to dominate in the mobi space.

Yes, they do. I have a trio with Windows mobile and it does have favorites just like on IE.

i tend to think the same way, but what if qwerty keyboard phones dominate ?

the iphone, new samsung, blackberry are all qwerty i believe

all bets will be off, plus the value of all the "spelled by number" words, all of the words purchased based on easy key entry "dada" "mama" etc will be worth a lot less

i just picked up background-check.mobi which has an ovt of 508K but is very long and hyphenated as well (i believe, and i may be wrong, that a fair number of people will want background data on people _immediately_ enough times to make it useful, the non-hyphenated version is premium)

i have always believed that hypens are not as bad as they are made out to be especially with long or tricky names, the hyphen performs the function of making the name easier to enter and it performs just as well in search engines

Sorry but i would think you would be better buying hyphenated .com's over mobi JMO

Not bad at all and these could work nicely with qwerty keyboards.

Only grabbed a couple myself, north-africa.mobi and vatican-city.mobi as they were nagging at me to reg them ;)

i have always understood that hyphens are invisible to search engines so that apart from how they look, hyphenated names are pretty much the same as non-hyphenated so i would say that you might have some good names

will a mobile search engine parse out freeporn.mobi, free-porn.mobi pornfree.mobi and porn-free.mobi the same way ?

I bought at NP's down-load.mobi last week for a steal I believe. ALso there is a thread going about L-L-L.coms that is very interesting here at NP's (says the same thing about SE's not seing hyphens and A LOT of people buying them up.

those are the type of names that you do not want to get with hyphens. those same names without hyphens arent even good. Free-videos.mobi, Free-Music.mobi would at least be better than those although still not great.

I also regged a few hyphenated .mobi names back in October just incase. If they are developed they could do well in the mobile search engines anyway. I got Horse-Racing, South-Beach, Outer-Banks, and some L-L and N-N.

I regged sex-i.mobi a while back and it was getting the same OVT as sex. Probably a bug in OVT and I haven't checked recently. Other '-vowels' did not do this.

Yup still does it. (input term sex-i)

I wouldnt think there would be a lot of searches for sex-i. must have been a bug. ovt is probably not recognizing the dashed part and just giving you the OVT for the word sex. i wouldnt get those kind of hyphenated names either.

I only have one hyphen. The non hyphen is a premium. The hyphen may be used just as much as the nonhyphen in this instance.

During the landrush I contemplated ny-ny, but decided against it. I think another NPr picked it up.

I have two but both are because I think they are better as hyphens. One, b-1.mobi can really only be in this form and the second eco-friendly.mobi is properly correct this way (as opposed to ecofriendly).

Kama-Sutra...extremely nice, global meaning, I think it is pronounced and spelled this way in nearly any language.

NY-NY...and how do you feel about that decision now?
