It appears people are already all over the Hurricane Rita domains.

The annual list of names can be found for the next 3 years.
I would be suprised if they are not all taken in every form available.

Sure, the name of the storm itself, but various donations, relief and survivor domains too?

Correction. All Hurricane Names are assigned for infinity years. The hurricane naming comittee already has published lists that cylc every 6 years.

Didn't the same thing happen with the Pope's possible names?

I stand corrected.

My point is the variations on relief, survivor, donation, statistic, yada yada yada domains....surely those would not be registered for EVERY storm name, would they?

I haven't checked but with the amount of recent hurricane activity and the amount of press they are getting it would surprise me if they were not.

"Fay has replaced Fran"

WHOA, I went through Fran. Big enough to warrant it's own name. Man for a "semi-weak" hurricane it still caused some MAJOR damage. It was back in my second home, and had a couple whopping trees fall down ga!

Yeah, opportunists think its a big deal but I doubt anyone makes enough on traffic over the few days that the hurricane is in the news to make anything from names like rita-relief.net. Unless you have hurricanerita.com you might as well invest elsewhere IMHO.

Yep, and it looks like they're all registered.

Interesting list but what happens if there are more than 21 per year :D

"In the event that more than 21 named tropical cyclones occur in the Atlantic basin in a season, additional storms will take names from the Greek alphabet: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and so on."

It's true, the domains will lose all value once the hype has died down. I like to think it teaches these bandwagon hoppers a lesson who try to profit from these disasters. :D

that's pretty interesting..I always thought they picked the names at random! Another interesting note is that every other name on the list is male/female. 50% male 50% female names :)
