Hi, I work for this online Art company that has a very simple HTML website. Now the file size of the (home) page is huge (32k) but there is majority text on the site. I took over this project from another person who used some type of Microsoft program to create this page. Is there a way I can shrink down the file size or find out what in the code is making the file so huge?

Hello legendary,

can you please post a URL to that web site ?

In general, there are a number of reasons to why a html file has such a big size.

Maybe your site is using tables and that of course will make the file bigger or maybe it uses excessive javascript codes .. that also makes the file bigger :)

There are solutions to this : you could re write the source code using XHTML & CSS and use external javascript files ( if the site uses javascript ).. but that's just a guess...

I will be able to provide you with more answers if you post the address to the web site in question.

Cheers

Hello,

Thank you for posting the URL.

I've looked at your source code and i allmost had a heart attack :)

Like i said in my previous post, this is uses tables and excessive javascript .. this causes the source file to have such a big size.

To reduce the size of your source file i suggest re designing your site using XHTML and CSS and use external javascript files.
