HTML and Flash

I was given an swf file but no fla file. The problem is that I would like to add make the flash movie a button in some way if possible. I tried to put <a href="page.htm"></a>around the flash code and I see the link when I hover over the flash but when I click it does nothing. Any suggestions?

cant you open up the swf somehow, (my fried did this) and it has each frame as a keyframe, you could just make a new layer and have it has a button over the whole image as transparent, im sorry i cant go into detail i dont know flash, ive only played on it a bit

you can make a new swf of exactly the same size to act as a button, and load the original swf in it with loadMovie. Goodluck

I think layers can only be edited with the FLA file, I can't do it with the SWF

Why not just import the swf file into a new fla and turn it into a movieclip....or create a button that opens an external swf....pretty easy

There are several swf decryptors availible. Search for swf decryptor.
You do have to buy most of them though.
