How/where to sell $50k domain?

I've just had a domain valued by allfordomains.com at around $50,000 -

firstly, are they generally regarded as good valuers? and secondly, can anyone recomend a secure way of selling it? I understand there are several escrow services, but due to the price I want to make sure I get a reputable one!

(I had the appraisal done at the request of a potential buyer who had approached me about the domain, and he suggested allfordomains.com - personally I've never heard of them...)

Disregard the useless posts above. Its easy to be fooled sometimes, and its not right to laugh at anothers loss like that. Just read the following threads and keep your wits about when a "buyer" asks for an appraisal and not only that they link you to a site.

Sorry to inform you it was a scam. This person sends out requests for appraisals to almost everybody with a domain. They are somehow affiliated with the appraisal companies who make money from people rushing out to get a valuation.

This doesn't necessarily mean that you domain might not be worth that, but there is a good chance it isn't. There aren't too many domains out there worth $50k by themselves.

You may want to try posting in the domain appraisal section of this forum to get an idea of what other NP members think of your domain.

How can these guys get away with this for so long ? have they been reported to anyone ?, not that I know who would be interested in stopping it

They are either paying someone a percentage to drum up business or they are sending out the emails themselves.

Definitely read up on those scams, I'm afraid you've just fallen victim to one. Don't worry, it's easy to do and I was under the impression that one of my first offers was real, but they did the same thing to me. It's easy to get fooled by, too bad you had to find that out the hard way.

As fonzie said, the domain may be worth that, but an appraisal from that company is useless.
