We've been approached with offers up to $50k-- including escrow fees-- for a three letter domain we own. Knowing very little about this domain name game that does sound quite tempting, but for all we know a buyer may purchase for $50k and turn around resell for much more. That's obviously the objective of anyone in the buy/sell domain biz and that's fine, and the value is only worth what someone is willing to pay. But before an impulsive sale we'd like to get a more informed opinion of what the domain is actually worth?

My partner suggested listing on one or more of the domain auction sites to "test the water" so to speak. Do these sites require exclusivity and/or a long term commitment?

Assuming it's a .com you have, and without knowing the name, $50K might be about right.

Take a look a recent LLL .com sales on NameBio:

Thanks for the link. I see prices for three letter .com domains run the gamut. Hard to know where to start!

I'm wondering how sites like this get their info. If one sells a domain is the selling price public information?

it all depends on letters
everyone different

I know couple combos 3l.com that have been and still are sitting unsold for 25k
all day long

if u need money now, sell. if not wait.
if you wait will they go up. who knows.

its always a risk. gl.
