How to value established domain

Hi,

just spent an enjoyable hour reading no end of useful stuff, sometimes over my head.

I realise (the market knowledge and therefore) the final call is mine but can anyone guide me on valuing an established domain. I wish to buy rather than sell.

I have noticed that various posts offer lists of useful sites etc - is there a way of quickly tracking down such posts?

On the whole established sites generally sell for x times the monthly revenue. The value of x depends upon who you ask, of course buyers want x to be lower and sellers wish it to be higher.

Other things that can come into it (like any other business) is users good will (ie will they be return visitors) but this depends on the type of business.

If the site has no income then it will be extremely difficult to value the site, in this case you just need to work with the seller to iron out a good price that both of you are happy with.

A domains value is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. "Established" is pretty generic since many could consider a domain with Age as established.

The real value is going to be based on "The Term", Search Engine placement and quanity of good links.

It helps to use NameBio.com to compare a similar domain (base on Keyword, domain age, links etc) and what it sold for and where. The where makes a difference because depending on the place sold could tell a seasoned vet if the domain sold to an End User or a Reseller.

let us know if you mean established site or domain. there are so many 'established' sites out there that really are quick template jobs with pumped up paid traffic. which would of course all stop when you own the site...
