Post lots of entertaining/useful Tweets that do not contain links. That is my tip to you. :)

Yeah the catch is to try to not be so spammy with all of your new posts or projects. It is too not to. Sprinkle that in with useful phrases, suggestions, or fun comments. Utilizing the proper hashtag for a topic or targeting who to @ takes some work and is still something I am trying to master. I hope to start tweeting more domain related stuff.

Twitter just like facebook is full of people who loves fun. Don't add too much 'business' stuffs in there. But adding helpful tips worth to retweet is a major yes. You can follow people who does domaining and hope that they will follow back.

Highly related to your niche followers is what you need to make twitter effective for you and your business.

From past experience, it all comes down to what niche you're trying to tap into on twitter. With domains, it's important to build a solid followership and brand yourself as an expert in the field, provide useful tips and info and become someone users will want to follow for domain related news/info/tips etc. That way, when you do reach out to someone, your advice may more than likely be heard.

In general though, I find interacting with other twitter users to be the best approach, regardless of what niche, if you reach out to twitter users who have made relevant tweets and provide either a light hearted reply, or helpful info etc, they'll hear you out and follow. It's all about user interaction, unless you're already set with a solid brand on twitter, you can't afford to do what all the other big name twitter accounts do, update with links and expect the traffic to flood their sites etc.

Use the search tool to not only find keywords, but phrases, people tweeting things like "starting a new business" etc, just things that might apply that they will need a good domain perhaps. Get creative.

Good luck and happy tweeting!
