Hello,

Let's say I wanted to trade names with someone. He doesn't know me and I don't know him. So we're both worried about follow-through from the other party.

Does anyone have advice on how to trade names so that both parties get what they want without having to worry about trust?

Tom

Are you merely referring to domain trades that do NOT invlove exchange of money?.
trading domain names for money could easily be accomplished thru escrow, however I am not aware of a function where you can trade domain names without money being involved, that would require a neutral person I suppose.

Yes, only trades that don't involve money.

As mosilager said , there must be third party person / organisation , that will encourage smooth transfer.

Maybe www.dnoa.org with "Code of ethics" will encourage fair trade between members, but there still no guarantee, until traders pay somene to protect their interest.

one example:

trader1 trust trader3
trader2 trust trader3
trader1 and trader2 give trader3 their names with proper instructions.
trader3 transfer names to trader1 and trader 2 and gets some cash for nice service.

same as escrow, but not % of money transaction.
Just preagreed tax.

Is there risk? - Yes, but it is better than nothing :)

Perhaps you can find a reputable NP member w/ a lot of posts, rep. and a good Trader rating. Both of you transfer you DNs to him and he will then transfer both to you. Also be sure you pick someone who is a DNOA.org member just incase they try to screw you, that way you can leave horrible feedback.

Maybe offer the person a free DN or like $5 or something.

Tom, I'd be more than happy to act as a go between (broker agent) for flat fee. Pm me if you are interested.

Set a price both parties agree on.
He buy the domain from you while you buy the domain from him, via escrow.
