How to show traffic for resale

I am going to be buying a name from a friend, her site is active with lots of traffic. i am making a small affiliate site with related products and linking through a masked redirect to a page on my active site as well as listing the name as available on sedo at the same time. how do i prove the amount of traffic the site gets, do i need to sign up for stat tracking some where (if so whats good to use?) or will it just be recorded in alexa or somewhere? how does alexa get its traffic ranking?

If you have cPanel hosting for the site, go to "Web/FTP Stats" and click on "Awstats" Take a screenshot (There are lots of programs for this or you can just hit the Print Screen key and paste it into MS Paint) and then show the screenshot to potential buyers.

actually my site is on a windows server so no cpanel
but i didnt think to see if my host has something already available

editd to add: is it better to get stats that shows how people get to the site listing referrals or search engine keywords, or do endusers only really need to see raw numbers?
