i have come into possession of dollyparton.net and i am unsure of how to price it or what route to take. anyone have any advice? would love to just sell it immediately.

there is no greedy or evil intent here, this was and still is the actual owner's plan. they are just in a bind right now and wanting to look at every option possible. You should be GIVING that name to Dolly Parton (and her organization), not trying to profit off of someone else's name.
Contact the organization and give the name to them. That is not a name I would hold onto or try to sell.
yeah i know :/ he has several more very impressive domains you will probably see me asking about shortly lolOr you could just delete the domain. Google celebrity cybersquatting.
The domain has been registered since 2015. She has no interest in it.
just posted some of them.Don't squat on celebrity names.
If you have some non-profit fan site or free speech use, there might be some defense.
Trying to sell it, there is not much defense.
Maybe the party should offer some of their more impressive domains for sale.

so what would you do if it were you? lol. It's all over the place when it comes to celebrity domain names. Most celebrities don't care about owning their .com. More than likely Dolly Parton would not care about the .net. The lady is 78 years old and owns her .com. I am sure she has top notch legal professionals in her employ and could udrp the name for $1,500. Once you approach a celebrity with the name, the whole I was going to build a fan site goes out the window.
I have probably written more about celebrity domain names than anyone on the planet.
Well I would have not registered it, or caught it on a drop. If I got it in a portfolio buy, say I was buying 500 names and it was in there, I would contact once offer it for free. If I got a reply cool if not let it expire. It's an easy UDRP if you try to sell to them.so what would you do if it were you? lol.
gotcha. yeah he originally registered it to protect her image because he was just a fan and there was deepfake porn on it apparently.Well I would have not registered it, or caught it on a drop. i have come into possession
i am not the actual owner
lol my bad. i guess i should have said "became responsible for", but that just sounded a little weird to me.Great story.
thanks for the inside info. i will definitely take this into consideration.http://web.archive.org/web/20140615000000*/dollyparton.net
I don't see any "deep fake porn" it looks like between 2000 and now it's mostly been parking pages.[Would the archive show gaps or red links for pages deleted at the request of robots.txt?]
I don't think DP would have interest in it. There are people who sell signed prints and memorabilia who could have some interest in it. I can't recall the guy's name but a while back I stumbled onto a company on eBay and the guy owned a lot of coms, hyphenated coms and maybe some nets. Actually I think it's this guy: http://www.timem.com/photo/photo.htm Looks like he might have even had some deals with the actual celebs as well. His websites look ancient but maybe you'd get $50?
I have had some celebrity domains in the past. 10+ years ago I think I owned helen-hunt.com and sold it for pocket change on eBay (I probably bought it there for $2 and flipped it for $50). I sold GeorgeReeves in king a few years ago too for I think $299? It's somewhere in the Reported Completed Names Sales thread.
I agree with a lot of the other commenters here but also don't mind dealing with these domains. I do have a few in my portfolio and if the actor/actress wanted the name, I would most likely hand it over either for free or maybe trade it for a signed photo or something(If they are selling their signed photo for $80 at a convention, trading for a domain name shouldn't make me Hitler). If I had a chance, I would probably also try to see how much the celebrity understood of domain names to make sure this wasn't going to a manager's porfolio only to end up being battled over later.
