Do you think this is a good idea?

I've been giving this a lot of thought and think I might have discovered a way to save NamePros now that domain names are losing traction.

The Solution: Expand the brand to include baby names and then slowly phase out the domains. This would be a gold mine in terms of advertising and I think the forum would be bigger than ever in terms of revenue and traffic.

Do you think this is a good idea?

I hope this does not happen.

I prefer it to be about domains...Otherwise, I'll be one less unique they receive per day :)

Not sure if serious.

ready to go down with the ship, com.pro-names

but made me think of a great biz idea, basically register every possible first-second baby name combination, add landing page: Your child sucks! This domain may be for sale...

Why not combine them?

Hi, have you met my genius Child. Microguy-Jr.net? We're hoping one day to secure the .com and the hyphen is something we're learning to live with.

Our most valuable child is Print3DMarijuanaPlants.com

Sound idea.

Whilst I do respect you Microguy I have to say I don't know what ship you're on mate. So far 2013 has been a great year for me with roughly $1,800 in sales with about $1,700 profit on those names (catching UK domains at and GD closeouts) and domaining is just a hobby of mine.

The opportunities are still there for those who look.

It's been a great year for me too, record sales in 2012 and ALL but 1 was to end users...

The dot com ship is far from sinking, those who suggest that it is should perhaps take a honest look at their own domains.

This whole baby name stuff was mentioned before and shot down.

Why bring it up again?

Anyways, this is the wrong forum.

Suggestions forum is where this belongs.

I think we should retry the different memes.
Things were good when we were planking.

I was thinking about this and two more things came to mind.

Baby Name appraisals would need to be pre-and-post certificate. Wouldn't it be awful to name your child LegalizeCrack.com only to realize that the masses think it's worth than regfee!

The carrying costs are minimal though - the only charge kicks in when you want to CHANGE the name. Its not required to be unique right now.. so no UDRP filed against anyone's son called Louis Vuitton. So appraisals wont be as complex. Anyones child could be sex.com

But that said - should it be restricted to Baby HUMAN names? I find horses and dogs usually are much more creatively named.

Seattle Slew.... Red Rum.... Shergar... and of course, Frankel...

these are cool names.

Good to see you've got your eye on the trends.

Problem: Throughout the developed world, birth rates are falling.

Procreation is losing traction!

Baby names are therefore a shrinking niche.

Now, what else is occurring in the developed world?

Everyone is getting fat.

Why are they getting fat?

Fast food.

What do fast food employees have to wear? Name tags.

Right there is the solution. Slowly phase in name tag discussion threads. Get some hype going.

NamePros will be at the crest of the wave of the burgeoning nametag market with healthy profits for all who get in early.

/satire
/look it up
/use a dictionary
/they're now available online!
