How to not sell a domain

Please allow this short rant about domainers who will never sell a domain because it is impossible to contact them.

The example I will use is vancouverrealtor.com

1. If you go to the parked site, not only is there no contact info AT ALL but most of the ads are for Florida real estate. The last time I checked there was no Vancouver in Florida.

2. There is no way to find the contact info using WHOIS and most potential customers don't know about WHOIS anyway.

It seems that if you want to sell you domain you should have contact info at the url at minimum.

Who makes the parked pages at the site? They are terrible.

Just go to Dynadot and check the whois, there is no privacy set on this domain

Any problems, just PM me

Thanks, gilescoley

It's not that I want the domain. I just wanted to point out how some domainers make it so difficult for the potential buyer. Not every end user would know to go to dynadot. Most wouldn't I bet.

The name is parked at Parked.com Maybe he's afraid that realtor is trademark (lets not rehash that here lol) and is hiding a bit, or maybe he has a family member that wants to be a realtor one day and the last thing he wants is to talk to someone that wants to lowball or even highball him. You never know.

agreed being a TM domain he prolly wants to make it hard... that way he knows if a buyer finds him they are serious...

also not every domain is for sale.. i have plenty of domains that are parked and i have no interest in selling

Not only that but for myself I never put "this domain for sale" on the parked page. My studies show doing so reduces the click thru rate from site visitors. If I am wanting to earn parking revenue I do not want those landing on my page thinking there is no substance to my advertising links simply due to the fact it is a parked domain.

you probably wouldn't put Florida real estate links on a Vancouver page though.

Realtor and Realtors are trademarked terms.

I have names I am holding for future development. They aren't for sale and earn little parking revenue.

It is. Realtor is how one refers to a member or the National Association of Realtors. There would be no issue using VancouverRealtor as a domain if you were a Realtor and dealt in Vancouver.

It's somewhat a diluted term. I rarely see realtors show there "title" with the appropriate legalese.

Anyway - If a domain makes a positive return why sell it? It's recurring income. Let's face it it's not like someone is going to offer a killer ransom for this domain... and if they were? They'd figure out whois.

Same here, just because a domain does'nt earn much when its parked it does'nt mean its not a great domain to develop ;)

ps) Some registers forward all emails to the owner even when whois privacy is set on them.

Realtor is definitely a TM, so unless you're one it's best not to purchase that domain.
