Hi,
I have a "www" typo of popular website (5k OVT/w ext) and it's getting 5-10 type-ins per day. The problem is it hasn't got any clicks so far - I suppose that people go to real website as soon as they notice that "." is missing. Any idea how to improve CTR rate here? What do you do with your typos? BTW it's currently parked at ND.

CTR on typos works a bit like adsense on a proxy site, if you get enough traffic, sooner or later someones going to click on an link whether on purpose, by mistake, or by curiosity.

Try parking somewhere where you can customize your lander to be similar to the website your typo of.

Tnx for the advices, I changed template to Marquee 2 and if it doesn't improve CTR I will try creating custom lander page.

What has worked for me

What has worked well for me is to try and determine what the end user's intention was - and try to fulfill it - or basically direct them to where they want to go.

Personally, I think Google has made a fortune with this type of "typo" traffic. because a lot of browsers get set to go to Google if a name is not resolved. The they use their software to try and fit a match to what you wanted - click and voila they get paid.

The typos that monetize the best (at least for me) are ones that are advertisers themselves so that their name will likely come up in the keyword search. To make up a silly example: If you had a typo of BillyBob's fishing supplies, and you set up your lander on "fishing supplies," you would get a pretty good CTR. However, if BillyBob's happened to be one of the sponsirs on the page, your CTR would be very. very high.

Some typos do not generate much in the way of revenue, simply because they discover that they have made a typo and just simply try it again. This is particularly true if there is not a good match for advertisers. I registered a few that get tons of traffic - buy no clicks. I also have some that are as steady as the weather. Once you've tried a few, you'll get a knack for it.

Good luck with your domains!
