Get some blogging software and install it on your web space. I personally use Serendipity all the time and I'm very happy with it.

You can use www.blogger.com and it will ask you for your FTP information. It then can setup Google Ads right from there. You go to Blogger.com to edit your site and it will automatically update your real site. I like this site, it's very clean and easy to use.
