Hey guys!

I'm trying to figure out how to make a custom parking page.

First I thought I have to create some kind of catch all DNS zone on my webserver. A wildcard entry that would respond to any domain that makes contact with its nameservers. That sounds like a mess.

A better way may be:

Namecheap allows you to set "host records" for your domains when using their default name servers.

The default www record is this: http://free.park-your-domain.com/

I am wondering if by pointing that record at a page of my own, would I have a functioning parking page?

Would this page need to contain any special code in order to work?
How would I display the domain name on the page?
Could Google Analytics track traffic for a setup like this?

Do you have any ideas? Thanks!

you could make a standard page, then

CNAME all the others to it.....
or
use a registrar with free URL forwarding.

Will the domain name stay in the address bar if I use CNAME?

Most registrars that allow URL forwarding also allow "masking", which would keep the URL in the address bar. However, your index page that this all points to is going to have to be programmed to change based on the domain it is coming from, including keywords and relevant ads. That is, of course, unless all the domains you're doing this for are related. Otherwise the page won't convert to save your life.

Will doing this cage the page in a frame? Thanks for the help!

Yes, I believe so. Although doing the CNAME change as cdboard suggested would not cause it to load in an iframe and would show the correct URL. The method you suggested of using Namecheap's nameservers would also work, but would be a lot more time intensive. You would have to set up a new domain in their DNS control panel each time you want to park something (in addition to changing the nameservers of the domain with your registrar).
