How to get traffic to my forum?

I've posted on a satanic yahoo group, and i've told all my satanic contacts on msn. I've also installed a SEO-friendly URL mod on the forum. Anything else I can do?

Hello Mikor.

The SEO and marketing for forums is really different from the SEO and marketing of other websites.

Lets say you get 1000 unqiue visitors from your sigs and links and other places. Because right now the Search engines see no content on your forum and they are just ignoring you from better positions.

Okay now comes the human mentality. Out of that 1000 visitors 200 or so visitors are the people who need to register and become a member of your site. Now Out of that 200 visitors only 10 will register in forum as they see that there are less number of members here and less number of threads.

Out of that 10 only 5 will start talking and making posts. Because as a regular forum posters we don't know but others are hesitant about posting.

So okay you have 5 posts now.

Again you bring in 1000 visitors from somewhere on your own.

This time I think 7 will register and 7 posts will be made as there were some members and some posts in your forum.

This thing goes on for sometime and in the meanwhile the SE's also see some content. So they also help you get the visitors now.

The thing in forums is that once it is off the base it will not stop. But taking it off the base is the headache.

Okay some tips for getting traffic.
You need to see if your onpage optimizations are perfect or not.
Plus the same blah blah of getting backlinks, and directory submissions is always there.
You can write some articles related to your forums and post it on article repositories.

And as I said before this much will be enough to get you off the base. After that you will be a busy admin

Well, i've asked all my msn contacts who wern't online when I asked before and have gained 1 member (member #2, I have no idea who they are).
Hopefully more people will join as we post more.

1) Get a link in your sig at other forums you post on
2) Purchse traffic from here for which you pay with NP$
3) Have a contest
4) Offer something free
5) Pay for posting to get started so that it looks like an active forum
6) You yourself post seveal times a day in the form of a question so that visitors will respond.
7) Keep your category count down until you traffic picks up

Well, from just talking to other people on my msn contact list i'm getting a few members, goths and agnostic christian (angisson).

i'll have to make a non-satanic category soon, lol

Just change the name of your forum and moderate it properly, not to let people write "chakra is a magical point on your body".

Just change the name of your forum and moderate it properly, not to let people write "chakra is a magical point on your body".

2) It hasn't needed moderation yet, because everyone is staying on-topic (or very close to on-topic)
3) Err, it is, so whats wrong with posting that? (And I actually posted that, lol)
