i guess 1 easy one is have some sort of content that motivates visitor to post a link to it on your site or blog - good content, free tools and widgets always seem to work - and as much as people may think "tell a friend" forms are old school - but they work and if one referral gets to the right person, say a big time blogger or journalist - then it was definitely worth it.
