I want to make this post, which is going to be my 3000th post, a memorable one. I invite all domainers, the strugglers, small time domainers and middle level domainers, Experienced and inexperience domainers, domain experts etc. PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE HERE.

The challenge is how to double the Capital in six months investing in Domain names.

What type of domain names you are suggesting to buy, from the Secondary Marketplace, and new registrations, particularly in .com.

What are the present trends?

What are the future domain names?

What are the best keywords preferred.

Also please try to suggest some websites where one can get free tools, where one can diagnose a domain name’s full history.

Further, readers can ask in this thread what else they want to learn from the experienced domainers.

ALL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS DISCUSSION.

I am fine with 50% in 12 months.

100% in 6 months is usually a) on smaller capital; b) doesn't put any value on own time spent; c) could be not sustainable for repeat periods of time.

Yeah. It is a lot easier to double your capital on a $10 investment than on a larger investment.

You can't substitute time value when it comes to domains. It can take many years to find quality buyers for even top tier domains. The key is to find a model that pays for the renewals, turns a profit, and is repeatable.

Absolutely! You can do outbound on geo names and make 200% a year if you know what you are doing and have outgoing personality (yes, even for emails). But that means spending a lot of hours sifting through what is available, then looking for end users and making the lists, then corresponding to sell for $200-500 range 5-10% of names, then dropping everything by the end of year and repeating. You stop, your business stops. You count that you spent 2000 hours in a year and even with $10/hour, that is worth $20K. If you deduct that from your profit, suddenly you were not making 200%, but probably still in double digits. And, you find out you haven't built anything for the future.

I much rather spend money and time building portfolio that will be bringing 50%, even 30% every year, even after I stop spending time and just respond to emails and calls and close the transactions.

Haha )) here is proof you need to own your exact match name on the forum )))

I should see if I can buy Recons and forward it to Recons.com ))

Hahaha. That's right. I wonder if this is coincidence or what but the same mistake has been repeated by at least 2 members in past 24 hours or so in this forum and haven't noticed it prior.

The best thing is at least I own AbdulBasit.com domain :xf.wink:

True ) nothing beats owning exact match .com of your brand. I own my first name in .com, but haven't used it yet other than email. Not sure if I should or leave it for my son who has the same name.

I can share my experience, I am a small time domainer and also a father of two baby daughters, so I have very limited time on domaining in recent years.

Therefore I focus mainly on daily pending delete .com domains and use tools like dotDB to recognize valuable domains, and I would pick up about 30 top deleting .com domains that have good number of similar registered domains(according to dotDB counts) and place backorder requests for them at DropCatch, SnapNames, and normally I wound avoid any bidding wars, which means I get only domains without competitions.

By doing this regularly, I can get about 3 .com domains weekly and 12 to 15 .com domains monthly. It costs me something like $800 USD a month, and I can also sell about 3~5 domains getting from this procedure for $1,000 to $5,000 each easily every month.

For example, I acquired agilice.com at $59 through DropCatch.com on 2020-03-19 and sold it for $4,000 about 1 and half month later. (I still don't know what agilice means till now, I don't even need to know its meaning because dotDB tells me that there are some serious buyers behind it)

I have just done a simple calculation and noticed that I spent around $5,000 USD to acquire domains in the past half a year with this procedure, and I also sold such kind of domains for about $30,000 USD totally in the same period of time. It is about 6 times in the ROI.

I think there are still plenty of opportunities, if you can find a great way to dig out valuable domains and make trash to treasure like me, you are quite possibly to double your capital in 6 months. I strongly recommend using dotDB, their Bulk Search would save you a lot of time on finding potential valuable domains and buyers.

Let's take Agilice.com for example: https://dotdb.com/search?keyword=agilice&position=any
By searching at dotDB you will know that Agilice has been taken in .com, .net, .app, .cl, .digital,
and also below domains.

agiliceapp.com
agiliceco.com
agilicedigital.com
agilicegroup.com
....
...
..

These are the clues that Agilice.com must be worth something more than $59 USD. And normally I would go for domains with more than 10 potential buyers according to dotDB's result.

How about renewal cost. Did you factor it before deciding your profit or don't you renew your name after one year.

Thanks for sharing your approach!
I've checked each registered name with agilice and only 2 of them have developed websites:
https://agilice.cl/
http://www.agilicedigital.com/
So it seems like only 2 potential customers or am I missing something?
