I want to make this post, which is going to be my 3000th post, a memorable one. I invite all domainers, the strugglers, small time domainers and middle level domainers, Experienced and inexperience domainers, domain experts etc. PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE HERE.

The challenge is how to double the Capital in six months investing in Domain names.

What type of domain names you are suggesting to buy, from the Secondary Marketplace, and new registrations, particularly in .com.

    What are the present trends?

What are the future domain names?

What are the best keywords preferred.

Also please try to suggest some websites where one can get free tools, where one can diagnose a domain name’s full history.

Further, readers can ask in this thread what else they want to learn from the experienced domainers.

ALL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS DISCUSSION.

I have multiplied my investment 7X in 10months.
I'm not suggesting. But I buy handregisted Geos, in .com of course.
Since my focus now is on Geos, i can't say anything about that.
For Geo, my best tools are Boomerang,
Expireddomains.net, Archive/org, domaintools, com, and of course GOOGLE. This may not be all, but this are the most frequent I use.
My question is, how do you guys pull off those 4/5 fig sales? :xf.smile:

Great thoughts @iKhalyfah Thank you very much
My question is, how do you guys pull off those 4/5 fig sales?
I had all my four figures sales from Brandbucket and Brandpa only. And now trying with SquadHelp, as I am very much inspired by the recent advertising campaigns. I have listed around 40 names at SquadHelo also.

Damn you want us to give all our secrets away huh? 😂🤑 The best way to know current and future trends is to study, read many news sources, follow sales, auctions etc. There is no shortcut. We all had to walk through that beginner hellfire and learn from it. And the learning never really ends because whats hot changes.

Sometimes people want a non common keyword that is still impactful to be unique and stand out.So invest in a good dictionary and get a few not just run of the mill words to balance out your portfolio. Words are everything in this business so a great vocabulary goes a long way.

The best advice is to invest slowly and in moderation until you know what you are doing. It will be much easier to “double your capital” if you invest cautiously. Register names you would not be ashamed to use as a business or tell the world you own. Find your niche or niches, start in niches you know well. I could go on all day...

I have had 4 and 5 figure sales at brandable markets and on my own. Its just a matter of how much do you want it and how hard are you willing to work at it.

I am not a domain flippa - I am quite happy to hold my strong names until the sun comes home so I am not one to ask about doubling capital in a short period of time!

Couple of people who I would be very interested in hearing about the above is @NetworkPearl - has proven success in flipping domains. @TERADOMAIN - again proof is in the pudding! If they have a few pointers to add to this discussion that would be fantastic (no pressure!)

I am a big fan of Defi - really do think it is going to be a game changer.

I like strong pronounceable 5/6 letter Brandables - preferably in CVCVCV pattern

Also health technology is another area that I like the look of

First of all thank you for the topic, @Haroon Basha and congratulations and thanks for the 3000+ contributions to NamePros. I hope that your initiative here starts a tradition that members do something special for their post when they reach a milestone.

In your classification system, I am a small-time domainer. I use what I consider bootstrap investing, reinvest everything I make in domaining back into my portfolio, but little or nothing else. I simply don't personally want to risk large losses. That approach limits what I can invest in.

I really like the extensive list that @NickB just gave. I am not sure that I have much to offer. I think words that express positivity, balance in life, a sharing economy, and creative solutions will do well. Probably advanced medicine and biotech, along with artificial intelligence and robotic services, will be biggest technical terms, but really tough to predict exactly.

For the covered time period (2000 to now) and extensions covered HosterStats is my go-to free tool. Thank you @jmcc. That shows you full registration and server changes. If you mean website use, the WaybackMachine archive is the main one I use. This week's social hour had a bunch of sites for checking bad reputation, but I have not yet tried the ones I was newly learned.

Best wishes to all in accepting and meeting your capital growth goal!

Thanks again for this great initiative.

    Bob

When it comes to trends you can look at any showcase thread from 3D, VR, IOT, Weed, Crypto, etc. Most of the registrations are worthless.

The best domains today are generally ones that were good in the past and will be good in the future - Short domains, branding terms, keywords, phrases, quality GEO, etc.

I would rather buy those type than chase trends personally.

Congrats @Haroon Basha on your 3,000th post and I'm sure this is something special.

What type of domain names you are suggesting to buy, from the Secondary Marketplace, and new registrations, particularly in .com.

I think first one have to decide if you're going to be a flipper or long term investor. Although there can be changes made to the plan in future according to the situation. But once you're clear of starting as flipper or long term, it's easier to decide on moving onto next steps.

I personally never liked to hand register domains mainly because the timing of myself entering into domain investing was bit too late compare to those who came into 90's. So in my time of 2010 era, hand registering domains and selling regularly in 4-5 figures was not looking feasible. Although I hand registered several .cc domains at the start of my career but slowly moved onto buying domains from expiring auction. My suggestion is to bring in some healthy amount of like $5,000-$10,000 and buy expiring .com 1-2 word brandable domains.

It's better to avoid future trend domains when someone is newly entering into this business with limited capital because the risk of selling those domains successfully isn't as much as the one's you can sell 1-2 word brandable domains.

I suggest using Google and DotDB.com for the research of buying and pricing the domains. These two are definitely helpful.

You need to follow in the footsteps of the majority,
    Keep buying,
    And they keep selling,
Then you can make money in a short time

I am fine with 50% in 12 months.

100% in 6 months is usually a) on smaller capital; b) doesn't put any value on own time spent; c) could be not sustainable for repeat periods of time.

Yeah. It is a lot easier to double your capital on a $10 investment than on a larger investment.

You can't substitute time value when it comes to domains. It can take many years to find quality buyers for even top tier domains. The key is to find a model that pays for the renewals, turns a profit, and is repeatable.

Absolutely! You can do outbound on geo names and make 200% a year if you know what you are doing and have outgoing personality (yes, even for emails). But that means spending a lot of hours sifting through what is available, then looking for end users and making the lists, then corresponding to sell for $200-500 range 5-10% of names, then dropping everything by the end of year and repeating. You stop, your business stops. You count that you spent 2000 hours in a year and even with $10/hour, that is worth $20K. If you deduct that from your profit, suddenly you were not making 200%, but probably still in double digits. And, you find out you haven't built anything for the future.

I much rather spend money and time building portfolio that will be bringing 50%, even 30% every year, even after I stop spending time and just respond to emails and calls and close the transactions.
