I've seen a bunch of these sites recently that basically resell Godaddy's products from another site... same stuff, same basic graphic ideas, different domain and company name. Does anyone know how you become someone like this?

Go to the Godaddy.com home page at the top right is a link "reseller plans".
Details are there.
Alternatively one can get a reseller account from another reseller who can usually charge less for such an account.

There is a reseller option and also a discount domain club option. The discount domain club may be a better option if you are just looking for domain names. I haven't tried either, however, the DDC is what I was looking at.

I have a GD reseller - there is a minimum price at which you can set the domains (see the site in my sig because the prices there are the lowest possible). This is the worst aspect of GD resellers - the fact that you would like lower prices but can't physically get them!

Word of warning on godaddy resellers. You can't push from a godaddy/wildwest reseller to another reseller or to godaddy. You have to do a registrar transfer. You can't do transfers on .ws domains, so wherever you buy them, they are stuck forever regardless of future price increases. If selling to end users, this can be an advantage since you get income every time they renew in the future.

However, I pretty much shy away from buying domains as a reseller from godaddy resellers, because I don't want the hassle of doing all the transfers and the fact that you can't even transfer for 60 days after a name change at godaddy. Therefore, if selling to resellers (wholesale market) such as on these forums, you may get less sales if they are at wildwest.

I just don't agree with why someone would pay to sell another companies products.. lol.

I do understand it, somewhat, but personally.. I wouldn't pay to sell someone elses products, they should pay me? OK, maybe that's just my crazy logic.

It kinda reminds me of all those infomercials you see on late night TV. Buy our information and start up kit today so that you can help to sell, distribute and market our products. ( Our company will get huge, and if you really really really work hard you can make a few thousand bucks ).

If GoDaddy offers a free re-seller program then I'm onboard!

Just a word of advise.
Ask many questions to other domain resellers before you just drop $60 to become a reseller. IMO, When I had a reseller account back in 2002 It wasnt worth the hassle trying to promote the site & all other things involved in trying to promote.
In other words there was not much profit at all for me.

Moniker sells domains at $6.95 You can also get that same price at Godaddy.
And I certainly would buy from them first before I would any reseller.
I mean after all atleast I know where my domains are going to be.

Just my opinion :)

Before you become a "reseller" you should read this link I'll post below. It touches on alot of the tactics used by the bigger companies to lure you in. I'm not saying it cant be profitable, my reseller account paid for itself in a couple months. But in order to really be successful, custom web design and marketing advertising is a must and its not cheap. Thats why my site is still at cookie cutter status. But 2 months of google adwords paid for my plan plus some.

Anyway, heres that article.
