Hi,

I am very new to this, I have acquired what I think is a decent domain name and I intend to market it to end users rather than selling through sedo etc.

The domain name is a local one relevant to a high income industry, I have collected over 1000 emails of potential interested parties, developed a website, gathered links etc.

The marketing is fine really, I am wondering if anyone has any advice for me however on wether to go for a public auction or a private one. I was thinking of ebay for public and just email offers if private.

The actual sale is what concerns me, would you more experienced guys use something like escrow maybe? What is best way to handle to actualsale and transfer of monies in peoples opinions?

Many thanks in advance.

I'd auction it thru Sedo. It's public and they handle everything. And they're trusted.

Ok, thanks, I have put links from the website to the sedo offer page for the domain name. I would like to ask people here more about the actual process however, mainly, can other potential buyers see what has already been offered?

And is there any real reason to NOT use ebay? I ask because it's a platform many of the indiviuals in the market I am targeting will be more comfortable with.

ebay might work out as a fine auction platform for your needs but the "escrow" part of it is lacking when it comes to digital media (domains) Another reason is that you start the time meter when you put up the ebay auction, not when you already have a bid (sedo)

I didn't even realise there was a sedo countdown.. *goes to rtfm. :| :edit: I see now, 7 days from first accepted bid.

def avoid ebay - if you want to get good money for a good domain then see if you can sell it on sedo, or even another domain broker company.

just because you think its great doesnt mean it is - you need someone with money to think its great
