I've compiled quite a list of domains that are listed in Yahoo Directory but are currently have inactive, dead sites.

Are there any published how to guides for approaching the owner (or their family) about acquiring the domain before it expires. ?

How about tough cases with obsolete whois info?

Do domain by proxy contact email addresses incorporating the domain name forward to the owner's email?

Domains over 8 years old have the doubly value of age and probably being grandfathered into the directory.

Thanks

Just email the whois email and ask if the domain is for sale and what price they're seeking. That's how I got the domain that ultimately was my biggest sale ever. If you don't get a response, try calling the phone # on record too.

Yes they do. I have received offers on my gmail address auto-forwarded from my private whois display email several times already in the past.
