First, if someone has sent you an e-mail asking to have your name appraised, most likely that is a scam. Don't ever pay for an appraisal.

If you are wondering what you name might be worth you can post them in the appraisal section here.

John, I suggest googling that or looking here in the newbie threads.
Buying domains and understanding which ones will and will not sell doesn't come quickly.
Most of us have been doing this for years.
Experience is the key.
Hope you see this before they close the thread.

Unless it's lll.com or other simple domain like this it's almost impossible to appraise domain name.
Just look at http://www.afternic.com/recentlysold list. I would never register most of that domains, but someone bought them.

Use domain comp sites like NameBio.com and search for comparable sales. Similar keywords, length, patterns, TLDs.

Then ask the question - who would buy this? How big is their business? What could they afford? How would this domain be used?

domain appraisal really has more to do with, "how much you can upsell the domain" above your acquisition costs.

in other words, a profit margin derived from number of potential clients who "could" use the domain now and or in the future.

appraisal also has to do with "predictable" incremental price increases for a given category of domains.

like for instance LLL/nnn com/net/org/etc 3 char .com and NNNN/LLLL .com domains.

domains in those categories have intrinsic value because of demand and rarity, additionally many of them also receive traffic and earn revenue.

that's a basic intro, follow for more.....

imo...

For a brandable name, most new names with more than 10Ls do not worth very much. Names have to be easily pronounceable and 3 syllables or less, rhyming syllables. Don't string a bunch of generic words together and call it a name, that is for the SEO people. No dashes or numbers in most cases.
