How Romantic!

From Reuters:

"I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."

"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks," Bush said.

This from Bush on Afghanistan here:

If Bush were younger, he'd be in the Texas Air National Guard, skipping physicals, drinking a lot and going AWOL to work on one of his daddy's friend's campaigns. Does he think we have no memory? Read Hatfield's book Fortunate Son.

Ha!

Yeah sure, war is romantic. I understand Valentine's Day is huge in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Unfortunately everybody is too busy going to funerals, and such.

Maybe if I put on my best Sunday clothes, and buy some chocolates and flowers, I could go meet one of those friendly Afghani or Iraqi girls on the front lines.

Forget the war and the violence, and all the people dying.... let's contact Chuck Woolery and bring back the "Love Connection". Hell yeah!

"Democracy" Is the operative word here, Imo

The Muslim religion will not allow for a democracy, at least as i read it any way.

Lets say, They were to break their beliefs, and the people really understood what a democracy was, Iran would invade them, It would be Iran's prime chance to take over Iraq, And that is if, Another Muslim country in middle east didn't beat Iran to it.

All those people know, Is what they were born into, I would think they would take pride in what they are, that is all they know, That is the way they live, by the Muslim religion, I feel we should respect that, Unless they are a threat to USA, which they aren't, then leave them be.

What if the circumstances were opposite? and they were in the US, trying to make US citizens live by dictatorship, We would be like WTF! We only know what we read about dictatorship and their way of living under the Muslim religion, We can't relate to it. Nor would it be the average Americans choice of the way to live, We would put up heavy resistance, just like they are.

It dang sure can not be romantic, getting shot at by people, being hated by the people they come into contact with in every city they go to.

The bottom line: Every American soldier that looses their life over there, The parents of that soldier have to ask WHY, just as they did in Viet Nam, When the dust settles, and all is done. I truly don't feel we have accomplished a task that will be long lived, that is, If Iraq ever has a democracy.

Our soldiers need to come home, be reunited with their loved ones, and out of harms way.

Had we been chasing Bin laden all this time, as our focal point, putting all the soldiers into the effort of capturing Bin Laden, that we have in Iraq, perhaps we would have already had him, taken down his regime, And be done with it.
