How much should this website cost me?

Please look at this site and let me know how much it should have cost me:

The photos was taken by my own photographer and given to the web designer. The photos had been photoshoped but not resized for the website.

The web designer created the website and used the photos and floor plans that we supplied her with.

My question is, what is a fair price for what she did?

500 or so could be the price. Flash and Pages etc are done that's why.

But the rates at which different developer/designer works are not always same.

Its not something over the top and the Flash use is quite generic. No major design work has been performed. So, i think it should be around $250.

it depends. First of all, didn't you arrange a price in advance? If so, that's the price. It sounds pretty strange that you ask how much to pay AFTER the site was done. Plus, even then, the designer should put the price and then you can negotiate or whatever.

About the price, it depends on many factors, including where is the designer from, it's not the same a designer from US than a designer from (say) Bolivia. What can be a decent rate for the Bolivian designer isn't enough for an US designer.

I know you may get this kind of sites from 150-200 from low-wage countries designers, most probably UK and US designers will charge you 600+. It's not the site itself, which is extremely basic, but the money the designer charges per hour or per work.

Either way, I still don't get how are you arranging the price AFTER the work is done, it's the first time in my almost 20 years as a designer that I see this

How much is the Designer's daily rate? You can reflect to that so that you may know how much will you be charging. Anyhow, for me, the price would be $400.

Just pay up as long as you are happy with the site design itself

Each designer value their time differently.
Just because majority say it's worth $500 don't mean your designer
will do it for you for $500.

For exactly same web site design, one will charge $200 while top
designer will charge high $x,xxx

One of my friend got few quotes from local designers.

I ended up doing it for him for FREE since he is one of my best friend
and it only took about half day and I am not web site designer although
I do most of my sites using Joomla, Wordpress, and simple HTML.

if you got this done by a local US shop you pay a premium for being able to have a more direct dialogue that makes it easier to guide the process. my guess is that you paid $2,000 for the site and now realize you could get it cheaper. But you pay for the process that leads to the site - outsourced resources need a lot more input from you and if you. I think the site is good for its purpose - good luck with the sales.

To creat such a website doesn't need high skills.
An ordinary designer can finish it in several hours.
So, maybe $300 is a fair price.

I would charge around $1,500 - as my time is expensive.

This is actually a rather silly question, as someone posted above the pricing should be confirmed by both parties before the project is started.

As their are thousands of designers out there, you could have this job completed for around $250 if you shopped around, though many designers have a high price per hour as well. For me it does not matter if its html, asp, flash or whatever my hourly rate is always the same, and yes its rather high.
