A friend on another site has been asked to act as a domain broker, as she is very well known on the site. She was wondering how much to charge as a fee. What do you think is a fair price/percentage?

Truly depends on the names. I charge/pay up to 33% when its a hard to broker name, and as little as 10% for an easy one.

Many go with % depending on level of sale, but that gets murky - brokers want more for lower sales to make it worth it for them, while buyers often want to pay higher commission for higher sales as incentives.

I'd say between 5-10% , Depending on the type/value of the names.

Could be more depending on how much involvement/Risk they are taking also - Are they handling all funds directly ? Are they paying fees on these funds themselves ?

I tried to vote but got this response:
"GreenGambler, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:" lol

I would say 10-20 percent.

10% if they are not handling the escrow- many dont- that fee would have to then also be paid to the escrow company

I don't think my friend is handling the escrow, so 10% sounds reasonable.

I'm setting up my own site offering a "personal brokerage" service and my fees are as follows.

$10,000 and under 20%
$10,000 - $100,000 10%
$100,000 > 5%

That's fantastic...please keep us informed.

One thing to think about though, because I ran into this myself - for a $9,900 sale you'd get $1980 but for a $10,000 sale you'd only get $1000. Even a $5100 sale pays you better than a $10,000 sale. It might open you up to people wondering if you truly got $9,000 or so for their name.

For your own sake, I'd just go with 15% flat fee or something and just take the good ones. JMHO :) .

Again, this is good news - best of luck :$: .
