How much does "Yahoo.com" worth?

I want to see how other members estimate the value for certain domains:

Ok let's start with Yahoo.com...how much does it worth ???

ONly the domain name, based on current name recognition links and traffic....don't evaluate their current business...

Let say if yahoo.com got deleted tomorrow and POOL got it, how much you are willing to pay for the domain?

Note: You are bidding only for the domain....not the business...if you got the domain you have to start from the scratch ...

1...2..33...Go :)

HAHAHAHAHA reg fee...lol. Well as I see it chances of yahoo.com or any other domain with that kind of traffic would never be on pool to begin with .

But im sure a name with traffic like that could reach 100s of thousands up to a few million. exact figure who knows ...but it would be huge IMO .

lol... well for the recognition alone I'd say somewhere around the $X,XXX,XXX range.. Which if we all pooled our money together may not even reach..

To be honest I think, name recognition works in both ways...it has its disadvantages too ...like..if Yahoo got deleted then almost everyone on the web would know about it...then they may not try Yahoo again (atleast for a while)...so there would a traffic loss lol ..Agree?

1 Billion at least.

Because is ranked #1 website EVER.

1 Billion??? WOw!!! Their total business earned a net income of around 210 million dollars in last 12 months. So even the whole company would take about 4-5 years to earn that initial capital. So how long it would take you to build up a reputable company like that just from a domain name? lol

210 Million in profits, but then again, you can fill the name with porn links and quadruple the profits, hah. Traffic and Prestige.

the name alone with no other factors, such as links or whatever, is a reg fee. Really nothing special about the name itself.

The real question is how much would google or MS pay for it?
Probably billions. Average people/business wouldnt even come
close to that figure.

I am wondering how much someone will give me for myyahoo.org. Thats been sitting in my portfolio for a bit. Yahoo let it lapse so they no longer have a claim to it...

100,000,000 sounds about right to me being that it is the number 1 ranked site on the whole internet. Now we're talking about the WHOLE internet with over billions of sites being created every year.

Sites are growing real fast, but nothing will compare to yahoo.com .... ever

what do you people think about hotmail.com or sex.com?

It's hard for me to consider this because I know Yahoo would just get it right back because of the trademark issue. However, lets say it was on Pool and the lucky winner would be able to keep it for some legal loophole reason or another. A superbowl commercial costs 2 million bucks. Figure that you have the whole world typing in Yahoo for months as they wait to see when it will come back. But also figure that Yahoo only rakes in 100 million a quarter in total revenue based on their financials. You wouldn't be able to make 100 million a quarter like they could because you don't have a site like theirs. I would say that you could probably generate 10 million a month off of it. It would slow to a few million within a few months. I would say that the name is worth at least 60 million. It gets risky to pay more than that... Of course, if you were allowed to try to sell it back to Yahoo, it might be worth 500 million or so to them.

Nice analysis Bill! I think 1.0 billion is a fair price to pay for it, haha!

WhiteHouse.com is a porn site... I'm not really sure how much I would say this is. Maybe XX,XXX.

I read the CNN article and men.com went up for $1.3 Million. I change my guess on WhiteHouse.com to at least HIGH XXX,XXX

Ya, he is a smart guy. Because a lot of people don't know to put whitehouse.gov, so they put the .com and they get a porn site. If he gets paid for hte visitors going to his site... then he makes A LOT of money, lol.
