How much can someone serious make?

I have been looking into playing the Domain name game for a month now and have gotten a ton of information from this site so I thank you all but I have to ask "How much money can someone serious at this make?" So I thought I would post this question and hope I don't offend anyone being this could be like asking a co-worker how much do they make.

Who ever feels up to repling. Do you make enough to live off of? Extra cash? or is it a hobby?

Im 17 and I make enough to live off already. I know people online that make thousands a day. Amount of money you make really depends on how much you invest.

this is a hobby for me, im more of a collector, i only sell %5 of the domains i have

Depends if you're a reseller, designer or collector. Reseller will take some time to wait for the right price but can alot in one shot. Designer will need time to design their sites, advertise it and sell, but also alot of $$ in one shot. Collector like j0e, is more like buying 100 yet selling only a few, for most cases might still have a chance of selling high but overall, does not pocket that much $$. There's no limit as to how much someone can earn..

while others in bsiness just use to supplement their other interests in business

Me example I am a designer. I take domains, design and develop them for a month or two and sell them for $$. I started out doing domains as a hobby but now it pays well for my gas bills and car insurance (very high for a 17 year old) :p

i have more than 15 domains for couple years. I tryed to develope them, i did my best with them, i spent more than several hours a day on each of them, but non of them, becide one, bring me money. That one, is one page web site of my personal busines non related to domains at all. It is hardwood flooring business, which local people findng without advertising and giving my company jobs. And only once one of my affiliated domains made me about $80.00 in one year. Thats it.
I would appretiate if somebody would give me some advice how exactly i have to develope my domains to make money on them, not on my local business.

Iam a site developer-collector,But do make sales and parking revenue aswell,But domaining is mainly my hobby.Not near enough to make a living off of just selling some names,Gotta love domaining rather it's just your hobby or your living,Nothing better !!!!

I dont earn enough to give up work :tu: but as I love my job thats no big deal.

I usually register names, develop them, sell them 2 - 3 months later. A good week I develop around 4 - 5 sites.

Im new to this...domains is mainly for my use but off lately thanx to NP i am kinda attracted to this world. I am planning to start a reseller soon. But basically as of now..its all related to my interest the domains that i own.

You can register cheaper with some, but it's only a difference of a few bucks.
1and1.com is the cheapest I can think of...

I won't disclose exactly how much but lets just say it pays more than nicely for a site that takes 30min - 1 hour to make.
