Big Congrats to all you less than 18 running with this pack. I will say I have not treated any of you differently than if you were older. If you keep your deal and are fair with people, age will not matter.

Couldn't agree more - most of the guys here will probably appreciate that I don't really care what age you are - If you can provide the service, then your gonna get the business. My hosting is provided by a 16 yr old and is done just as professionally as any other I know - in fact I get better service than any of my previous hosting companies. A lot of my design work goes to people here and Darren has designed a superb website for me at www.wndp.com (Darren - as soon as I get back from the States I will drop you the payment ). Darren's age didn't enter into the equation - he showed me what he could do and I was impressed enough to let him run with it.

The payment thing is a bit of a bind though with under 18s as they cannot have a paypal account that accepts CC payments which can be inconvenient but there are ways round this.

One last point - Under 18s can very often be hungrier for the work and if they are capable of it then why not let them do it. On a note of caution to everybody though - don't be tempted to use the hungrier 18yr olds to get the work done at a bargain basement level - pay them the market value for their skills. Very often they are reluctant to charge higher prices as they know that people maybe not take them seriously because of their age. This isn't really fair and I have spent some time with the under 18s that I have done business with in trying to show them how to price jobs at a fair and reasonable price as opposed to agreeing to some of the extremely low deals. I could have got them much cheaper but don't feel it is fair if they have the skills that I need.

I'm under 18 :)

Also, with PayPal, can't people under 18 have their parents register an account for them?

interesting read, im 17 - i think bussiness people should really broaden there horizons on minors like myself and others on stuff like bussiness. my mind is literly busting with ideas and i have pages and pages of domains and what im going to do with them and how. i recently sold a .co.uk for £450 to sharon osbourne :D which in turn help me for the projects im after now, im currently in deals for me, worth about the same, the fact that people think that minors cant make money or be dealt with is hard to take... i like to be honest but sometimes its just easier to tell them your older..... money investments which i havent even looked at will be very difficult, thats the issue im worried about ! even if i was 18 i dont think i could pull £10k out for my own company.

anyways thas my 50 cents

I've been dealing with business and money related tasks on the Internet since I was around 15 (when I got my first computer). I do agree that minors often can be trusted and should be treated with respect, but I also personally feel that "spelling counts". :p
By the way, I'm 21.
Oh, and I had a credit card when I was 16. It had to be guaranteed by a parent, but it was in my name and all.
Just my 2 cents.

Does the age thing matter for this? I mean, as far as I know, I could log into PayPal now and just upgrade my account.

It's personal accounts that don't allow incoming CC payments, not the age... right!? :-/

According to the terms on Paypal's web site when signing up for an account, "our Service is not available to minors (under 18)". That should answer your question, Darren.

Yea, im younger than 18 :o many people judge people based on their age - sterotyping, but it's best to learn what everyone is like, thats why I tend not to share my age. If you can't figure it out, you don't deserve to know :)
