I have dropped about 40 of my speculative domains, and second tier .nets, and 3 most 3 word domains, about 10% of my portfolio, think I will drop another 30 as they come due, and keep the rest long term... I am seeing the trend of alot of names dropping especially .net .org .us, and .info's... registries must be suffering...

I agree with mytreat. It just isn't worth the hassle selling to Domainers on NamePros for a few dollars. To much time taken up by listing them, dealing with PayPal, Feedback, etc.

Why would anybody let their domains drop when you can possibly get 50 cents or more back for each domain. There are always people wanting to buy crap names for $1 in bulk. The key here is realizing a few months in advance that your names are crap so you can sell them for a dollar. :)

I've dropped around 40-50, mostly typos that worked OK while the PPC was higher, now it simply is a waste of time to deal with them. Instead I have bought high quality domains... :)

I've let probably close to 300 - 400 expire, got caught out in the LLLL thing that has fallen to a flat market where before it was very active plus a few other names that I never got around to developing. I have tried to sell them by just posting a bulk sale on the domain forums but none sold as they were nearly expiring. It wasn't worth trying to spend much time trying to sell them so it was more efficient to let them drop. At least now I'm getting a much slimmer & more economical portfolio of mainly developed domains and these dys I only buy one domain at a time for a specific website I have in mind.

It would have been better to post % of drop rather than absolute count. I have only XX domains btw.

3-5 drops this year, I would expect maybe that many more before the end of the year, hopefully less though.
