I wouldn't doubt it, but no evidence.

Already .cn is more popular in china than .com. Im just waiting to hear when idn.cn registrations go past ASCII. In future it's highly possible. Would also be interested in hearing if there is official numbers available now.

At last ICANN meeting, CNNIC representative stated that this was a Secret. He made it sound like a State Secret.

Dot CN has shot through 6 Million registration out pacing .co.uk and should outstrip Dot DE by year end! Not bad as it is less than a year ago since it shot past dot US.

I don't think the number of regs of CN will ever surpass that for COM, that my axiom. :)

Unless reg fees for CN dropped substantially below that for COM, and maintains substantially below for years -- something I don't see happening.

Never say never, that's my axiom, although I say "never" all the time...

Interesting discussion so far. I had an email exchange with someone at CNNIC and he made it sound super secret as well......Crazy! Oh well, once a secretive government always a secretive government.

That's only because it's really cheap for the first year. It's probably the resellers buying all the good .cn for a few cents. Many will probably be dropped because they won't want to pay for the 2nd year, heheh...

The .cn promotion is new (launched in the last few months) - There were already alot of regs before that.
